Spotlight On NW Creative: Best TV Spot of 2010

Spotlight on NW Creative is one of my favorite AdPulp features to write because it’s focused on what’s real to me now, namely my location in Portland, Oregon. I understand that AdPulp reaches a global audience, but that doesn’t negate the need for local coverage. In fact, I’d love to add more local coverage to the site in 2011 by partnering with more writers in under-served markets.

Adweek and AdAge, which I enjoy reading, tend to report on the largest, most infamous 200 or so agencies in the land, maybe 300. Meanwhile there are 10,000 agencies in the U.S. alone. For many people “the business” is what’s reported in the trades and The New York Times. For the rest of us, there’s our day-to-day reality and the reflection of it in blogs, Facebook and Twitter, etc.

Here’s the best TV spot from a Portland agency (that’s not called Wieden + Kennedy) this year:

This spot is from Leopold Ketel & Partners. I love how not nice it is, not because I don’t like nice people, it’s just that Portland can be too nice in a fake “nice to meet you” kind of way. And this spot blasts any shred of PC-rich innuendo to the moon. Nice work, LKP.
